According to the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), community-based care is a Texas foster care model that utilizes community resources and services to improve outcomes for children and their families by tailoring the process to their unique needs. While this model has been implemented in some areas of Texas, there are certain rural regions for which DFPS requested but did not receive expressions of interest to implement community-based care.
