Texas Respite Advisory Committee helps develop strategies to reduce barriers to access respite services, improves the quality of respite services, and provides training, education and support to family caregivers. Did you know informal caregivers in Texas provide an estimated 3.2 billion hours of service a year, or that their services save the state an estimated $34 billion in healthcare costs annually? The Texas Lifespan Respite Care Program (TLRCP) was initiated by the 81st Legislature to increase the availability of respite services for family members who care for a person of any age with any chronic health condition or disability. The initiative is called Take Time Texas. TLRCP offers short-term respite care services to provide a brief period of relief or rest.
