HHSC: Texas State Child Fatality Review Team Committee: The mission of the  State Child Fatality Review Team Committee is to reduce the number of preventable child deaths and its purpose is threefold: 1) To develop an understanding of the causes and incidence of child deaths in Texas; 2) To identify procedures within the agencies represented on the Committee to reduce the number of preventable child deaths; and 3) To promote public awareness and make recommendations to the governor and the legislature for changes in law, policy, and practice to reduce the number of preventable child deaths.

Health and Human Services Commission 2018-19 Fiscal Size-Up: HHSC is directed to maintain and improve the health and human services system in Texas and to administer its programs in accordance with the highest standards of customer service and accountability for the effective use of funds. The agency also received $2.9 billion in increased appropriation authority under House Bill 2 (85 R) to meet numerous state needs, including the projected Medicaid shortfall, Early Childhood Intervention, comprehensive rehabilitation services, and a transfer of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) federal monies from DFPS to HHSC.

Health and Human Services Executive Council: This was Executive Commissioner Dr. Courtney Phillips first Executive Council meeting. Dr. Courtney N. Phillips started as the new executive commissioner for the Health and Human Services system on Oct. 19.
