HHSC: Executive Council Meeting

The meeting was convened by the Acting Executive Director, Cecile Young. Hurricane season preparedness. Dr. Hellerstedt stated that DSHS is conducting preparedness activities to prepare for the next hurricane. Operation Lone Star was conducted involving all levels of state, federal and local governments to test hurricane preparedness. Lessons-learned continue to inform DSHS preparedness activities. The after-action report confirmed the need for training exercises and identified success from the learning from previous hurricanes. Mutual Aid operations continue to work together from all over the state. Shelter operations worked smoothly. An improvement plan is being developed and the initial recommendations are already being implemented.
